The Children’s Museum of Illinois located in Decatur, along with an undisclosed private foundation have partnered with H5 Charter to create an amazing children’s toy. Mitch Matykiewicz of H5 Charter, an expert A & P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic has taken an older model B222 helicopter, and is working tirelessly on stripping down the paint, repainting, buffing, shining and creating a huge toy that will simulate a real life helicopter. Matykiewicz has 15 years experience building and working on aircrafts and this is the first time he’s had the opportunity to create a toy. This has been a several month project for H5 Charter of Scottsdale, as they work to create a toy that will help ignite curiosity and innovation in youth. This will be gifted to The Children’s Museum of Illinois later this year to sit outside the front entry, where youth will have the opportunity to climb inside and play with the buttons, and experience what its like to be in the cock pit of an aircraft.
